It was first named as Ganga Bridge. It stands at the place where Mahatma Gandhi crossed the river long back to go to Champaran to began Champaran Satyagraha with Rajkumar Shukla. Hence renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Setu. This 5.05 km long pre-stressed cantilever bridge is the longest single river bridge in the world.

This is a suspension type balanced cantilever bridge. This 97 m high, 705 m long bridge is regarded as a major landmark and the gateway to the city of Kolkata. It was renamed as Rabindra Setu on June 14, 1965. Out of 26,500 tonnes of steel used, 23,500 tonnes of steel was indigeneously sourced through TISCO. It is regarded as one of the busiest bridges of the world.

Also known as Second Hoogly Bridge. It is a cable stayed bridge 823 m long, 35 m wide, supported on four foundations, the height of the setu pylons over pillars is 120.
