In some countries, 'Black Prints' of stamps along with their details were issued by Postal Authorities for publicity. Similarly, it is observed that India Post also prepared 'Photo Prints' i.e. Black & White photographs (on Bromide paper used in photography) of stamps. These 'Photo Prints' were presenting the actual stamps with white cross marks either on the value or on words INDIA of the stamps. It is also noticed that in some few cases these cross marks were not there.
It is learnt that they were prepared by Security Press, Nasik and sent to India Post, New Delhi for onwards distribution to different philatelic societies, news papers, philatelic magazines and other such Publication Houses for publicity prior to the issue of stamps. These 'Photo Prints' of upcoming stamps were sent to them along with their technical data for publishing the photos of stamps and other details for information of philatelists and general public. These types of publicity 'Photo Prints' have been seen from early 1950s till 1990s by many philatelists.
Here a few such 'Photo Prints' i.e. Black & White photographs (on Bromide paper used in photography) of stamps for Publicity are shown.
