Sahasralinga is on Die banks of the river Shalmala in the Western Ghats in Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka and a famous pilgrim place. It is well- known for being the location where around a thousand Shiva lingas have been carved on the rocks present on the riverbed. In fact, 'Sahasralinga' in Sanskrit means a thousand lingas.

History says all these Shiva lingas were built by Sadashivaraya, king of Sirsi (1678-1718). We can also see so many Basava/bulls which are carved in front of the shivalingas. it is a very calm and quiet spot amidst lush green nature and a fine place to relax.
