Kadumbuttu or steamed rice dumpling is a very popular food in Kodagu in the Western Ghats of southwestern Karnataka. Kadumbuttu goes well with Chicken curry and is prepared on all major occasions including wedding in Kodagu.

Ingredients: 250 gms of fine rice rava, 750 ml water, Coconut grated: 2 tbsp, 1/4 teaspoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Preparation : Wash the rice and cook it with above-said water measure on medium flame. Add coconut, salt and water and stir. Stir until the mixture becomes a soft dough. Turn off the flame and cover the container for 5 minutes, in a small bowl of water add 2 drops of cooking oil. Dip finger into this mixture and rub onto both palms. Take approximately 1 tablespoon of the hot dough and roll it to make round shaped Pall. Do the same with the rest of the dough. Place the dough balls in a vessel and cover with muslin cloth and steam for 20-25 minutes. That's it and your Kadumbuttu is ready.
