Deva Prayaga in the state of Uttarakhand is where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet and take the name Ganga or Ganges. "Deva Prayaga" means "Godly Confluence" in Sanskrit. As per Hindu scriptures. Deva Prayaga is the sacred event of meroing of two heavenly rivers, Alakananda and Bhagirathi, to form the holy Ganges. It is one of the "Panchpravag" (five sacred confluences) of the Ganges system and is an important place of pilgrimage for devout Hindus. Deva Prayaga has an average elevation of 830 metres (2,723 feet).
