The theme for Maharashtra tableau was “Quit India Movement.” Depicting the movement, the state’s float has a giant Charkha, an idol of Gandhiji and a replica of the Gateway of India, from where the last battalion and the then Viceroy, Lord Louis Mountbatten had retreated in the year 1948.
