On 15th August, 1949 Indian Postal Department issued first post-Independence definitive series depicting the gems of Indian architecture reviving memories of the glory of her heritage. A Philatelic Bulletin No 1 was issued on 30/07/1949 with stamps of various denominations along with pictures and details. The philatelists affixed respective stamps on the pictures and got them cancelled. However, it has come to the notice that that this Bulletin was also issued on thick and fine paper probably for presenting it to distinguished personalities.
