The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is the central organisation of chambers of commerce and industrial and trade associations in India. Founded in  1927, FICCI has on its  membership  nearly 450 chambers of commerce and trade and industrial associations, and over 1800 industrial and commercial enterprises large, medium and small. Together with its constituents, FICCI represents about one lakh business units employing over five million persons.

Committed to national objectives of accelerating economic growth, promoting employment, ensuring the well-being of the weaker sections of society and achieving self-reliance, FICCI functions as a bridge between Government and business.

FICCI has also taken keen interest in the country's socio-economic programmes. It has actively engaged itself in creating the infrastructure arrangements for exports and joint ventures with foreign countries, promoting industrial harmony, motivating enterprises in setting up family planning clinies for industrial workers, etc.

The Federation also undertakes research in various socio-economic matters and brings out studies  and monographs.  It also organises seminars, conferences and workshops in which representatives of public and private enterprises, government departments, academic institutions, etc. participate.

During the fifty years of its existence, FICCI has played a proud role in the socio-economic transformation of the country and contributed effectively to the nation's progress. The Posts and Telegraphs Department feels privileged to bring out a postage stamp to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of this institution.
