Description

Today's children are tomorrow's Citizens. It is the sacred responsibility of the government of every country to take special care of its children, to look after their welfare and to ensure their proper growth under healthy, happy conditions. So with India. And 'Children's Day' on November 14 every year, which happily coincides with the birth anniversary of that great lover of children, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, is to remind the State, the parent and the teachers of their duty by the nation's children. On the occasion of Children's Day this year, the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department is privileged to issue a set of two postage stamps depicting children's paintings.
The stamp in 25 paisa has for its motif a painting titled "CATS" done by 5 year-old Nikur Dilipbhai Mody while 100 P. stamp reproduces a painting titled "FRIENDS" done by 7 year-old Bhavsar Ashish Ramanlal both of Ahmedabad. These paintings have been reproduced by courtesy of Shankar's International Children's Competition (1976).
