The Aldabra Giant Tortoise, from the islands of the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychellas, is one of the largest tortoises in the world. Kolkata Zoo had one Aldabra Giant Tortoise. Before his death on 22 March 2006 at the Alipore Zoological Garden, Kolkata, this Giant Tortoise named as Adwaitya, was reputed to have reached the longest ever measured life-span of 255 years.
India Post has proudly issued a set of two commemorative postage stamps in denomination of Rs 5 and Rs 15 in four different sheetlets (Two individual and two mix sheetlets i.e. Se tenants) on 2-08-2008. The design of stamps was specially designed in Hexagonal shape i.e. having six sides. This is first Hexagonal stamp of India. Perforations are arranged in such a manner that some stamps are of Star shape being dedicated to the Star of Alipore Zoo, Kolkata India.
The triangular extension with perforations at each of hexagonal side are named by a philatelist as 'Tail of Stamp'. These 24 tails in the sheetlet are different from each other in design as they are on the different points on the carapace of Aldabra. Same stamp with different tails seems to be different stamp. These multiple positions create various positions of arranging these stamps.
Here a few such Creative Designs on FDCs and Folders are presented.
