After the Korean War (1950-1953), a Neutral Nations' Repatriation Commission was assigned the custody of the prisoners of war taken by both the sides (North Korea and China Vs. South Korea and USA), their interrogation and final repatriation. Indian Army Post Offices (A. P. Os) accompnied the country's contingent as well as the other units of the Repatriation Commission. Ordinary Indian Postage Stamps were initially used at the three Indian Field Post Offices (F. P. O. Nos 739, 740 and 741). These were later replaced by a set of 12 specially Overprinted Stamps on 17-10-1953. Subsequent to the withdrawal of the Custodian Forces from Korea, the Indian F. P. Os were closed. During this period 12 Stamps of Archeological Series Overprinted 'Bharatiya Sanghraksha Katak, Korea' in Hindi were used.
